Roach says Pacquiao can’t afford to lose with Mayweather fight
still a possibility

By Dave Lahr: Trainer Freddie Roach made a startling confession recently in an interview about his
fighter Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. In an interview at 8countnews.com, Roach said
“There’s no room for a loss right now. Mayweather’s still out there. People still want to see
that fight. That’s the fight I want to see.” So are we to interpret this as meaning that
Pacquiao won’t be put in a position where he can lose by being put in with someone that could
actually beat him like WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, Paul Williams, Juan Manuel Marquez
or Andre Berto? Is Pacquiao being fed stiffs until Mayweather appears for the big cash out fight?

LAS VEGAS -- Police sought boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. for questioning Thursday about a domestic
battery report filed by an ex-girlfriend who recanted a similar claim in 2005, police and his lawyer
said.
She alleges he hit her. We're looking for him to get his side of the story, said Officer Barbara
Morgan, a Las Vegas police spokeswoman. We're looking to talk to him as a potential suspect.
No warrant was issued, and no charges were immediately filed.
Mayweather, 33, is undefeated as a professional fighter. He goes by the nickname Money and is
considered one of the sport's top performers.
Mayweather has been arrested several times over the years on battery and assault allegations
He was acquitted by a Nevada jury in July 2005 after being accused of hitting and kicking Josie
Harris during an argument outside a Las Vegas nightclub.
At trial, Harris, the 25-year-old mother of three of Mayweather's children, testified she had lied...

Promoter Bob Arum has already started to make plans for Manny Pacquiao's next fight on November 13
after Floyd Mayweather missed Friday's deadline to agree a deal.
Arum says he will give Mayweather another 10 days to get in touch although other opponents are
already being lined up, including a possible re-match with Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito.
We now have to go out and secure an opponent for Manny Pacquiao assuming it won't be Floyd, Arum
said.
In the interim, while this was going on, if Floyd suddenly emerged and said he wanted to do the
fight, there would be nothing opposed to getting together and doing the fight.
The deal is dead when we reach a deal with an opponent for Manny's fight in November.
No question
Then we are contractually bound to do that fight and we would look hopefully to do a fight with...
