New Delhi: Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi feels the world-class
infrastructure and the facilities, which have come up for the multi-discipline event, have put the
national capital ahead by 10 years.
The city is 10 years ahead now. Earlier people would fly from Delhi to Dubai, Singapore and many
other destinations. Now they will land here, see the beautiful city, Kalmadi said addressing the
gathering at the Queen's Baton arrival at the OC's headquarters in Delhi on Thursday.
Delhi is all set for the Games. We have a first class airport, a great Metro connectivity that
stretches right from the airport to the Games Village and to all the venues. Roads are just great;
the entire city is spruced up. You have got everything, he added.
The senior Congress leader also said the October 3-14 mega-event does not belong to any political...

New Delhi: A tense and anxious nation awaits the Ayodhya verdict with bated breath, Bollywood
megastar Amitabh Bachchan said on Thursday and added that the patience and will of the people shall
be on test.
It is feared that the verdict going either way shall instigate violence by either group. Immense
preparations and positioning for the security has been taking place as per the reportage of the
electronic media, Big B wrote on his blog bigb.bigadda.com.
All possible sensitive areas have been almost garrisoned by armed forces. Appeals and proclamations
by prominent citizens has been the order of the day, when peace and harmony has been declared by
each community. A tense and anxious nation waits with baited breath, he added.
Prime Minister Manhmohan Singh and many other leaders have appealed for peace and harmony in the...

Big picture
Were it not for all the scandal and controversy that has rocked cricket this summer, Wednesday's
Rose Bowl decider between England and Pakistan would surely be seen as a fitting finale to a classic
series. It is a testament to the pedigree of these two teams in one-day cricket that, despite the
continuing rumblings, rumours, allegations and counter-allegations, they have managed to produce
four watchable and absorbing contests and while there may well be further addition to the ongoing...

NELSPRUIT, South Africa, June 24 (Reuters) - Having qualified for two consecutive World Cups and
put in a respectful performance at both, Australia are likely to go through a rebuilding process now
as they set their sights on Brazil 2014.
Their 2-1 defeat of Serbia on Wednesday restored some pride but was not enough to send them through
to the last 16 of the tournament.
They finished level on points with second-placed Ghana in Group D but lost out to the Africans on
goal difference.
The Aussies will be disappointed to have fared worse here than at Germany 2006, when they made the
knockout stages and lost narrowly to eventual champions Italy.
Ultimately, they will surely look back on their opening 4-0 defeat at the hands of Germany as their
undoing. It was that result that wrecked their goal difference and they were always playing catch-up
in the group after that.
They were also left to rue the two red cards they received in their opening two matches.

SAO PAULO: Kaka is confident he will be in top condition when
Brazil begins its bid to win a sixth World Cup title in South Africa.
Kaka arrived in Brazil on Tuesday saying that the injuries that kept him from playing several
matches with Real Madrid this season will not bother him in next month’s World Cup.
The playmaker says he will be fully fit by the time the competition begins June 11.
“The medical team will evaluate my condition, but I’m fine, no problem,” Kaka said. “I’ll
be 100 percent.”
A former FIFA player of the year, Kaka endured a groin problem and a thigh injury through parts of
season and failed to play at his best. “It was a tough season for me,” Kaka said. “But there
is a lot of time until the World Cup for me to get ready. We have examples of players who were not
physically fit going into the World Cup but eventually played well, so it’s not a concern.”

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados: Australia captain Michael Clarke wasted little time in upping the pressure on
England’s Kevin Pietersen ahead of the World Twenty20 final between cricket’s oldest rivals here
on Sunday (today).
Pietersen has led the way for England with 201 runs at an average of 67, including match-winning
fifties in the Super Eights against both defending champions Pakistan, who lost to Australia in a
thrilling semifinal, and his native South Africa.
Only a brief break to return to London for the birth of his son staunched the flow of runs and there
was no sign of jet-lag as South Africa-born Pietersen made an unbeaten 42 off just 26 balls in
England’s commanding seven-wicket semifinal win over Sri Lanka.
“Kevin Pietersen coming back into form plays a huge part,” Clarke told reporters after Australia
had chased down a mammoth 192, thanks mainly to Michael Hussey’s superb unbeaten 60, to beat...
