NBA commissioner David Stern has reiterated his commitment to playing regular-season basketball games in London prior to the 2012 Olympics.

Stern made the statement while announcing that the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves will square off at London's O2 Arena on October 4 in a pre-season game as part of the NBA Europe Live tour, which also visits France, Spain and Italy.

In addition to the friendlies we'll be playing in 2010, it is my intention that prior to the Olympics, we will play regular-season games in London, Stern said.

That's my statement, and I'm fully expecting to deliver on it.
