Ajmal loses father, to miss first Test
Saeed Ajmal will return home at the earliest to attend his father's funeral, who passed away in
Lahore on Tuesday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board said that it was making arrangements for Ajmal to return home from New
Zealand following the demise of his father.
His (Ajmal's) father complained of fever and shivering in the cold weather and was taken to hospital
where he expired, a PCB source said.
He said that Ajmal, who was very close to his father, was shocked by the news and wanted to return
home to attend the funeral.
It is not decided as yet if Saeed (Ajmal) will return to New Zealand in time for the second Test
which is from January 16 but he will miss the first Test from Friday in Hamilton, the source
said.
Ajmal is one of Pakistan's leading spinners having taken 33 wickets from 9 Tests, 44 scalps from 35
ODIs and another 41 wickets in 29 Twenty20 internationals.

Andrew Flintoff will play no cricket for the remainder of the 2010 season, his club Lancashire have
revealed.
The all-rounder, 32, has not featured since the final Ashes Test last August, whereupon he had major
knee surgery, and a further operation in January.
He had been due to appear in a one-day match for Lancashire's 2nd XI on Monday, but his comeback was
postponed.
Though retired from Tests, he was keen to return to England's team for Twenty20s and one-day
internationals.
But hopes of featuring in the World Cup next February appeared to be dashed on Tuesday as Lancashire
said in a statement Flintoff would continue his rehabilitation into the winter months.
His club said they had consulted Flintoff, his surgeon Andy Williams and their own medical team
before coming to the conclusion that he would not be able to make a competitive return before the...

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP)—Defending champion Juan Martin del
Potro says he expects to miss the U.S. Open because of recent surgery on his right wrist.
He said Wednesday he might return to the ATP Tour after the last of the four Grand Slam tournaments.
The U.S. Open begins on Aug. 30. He also will miss the French Open, Wimbledon and Argentina’s
Davis Cup quarterfinal against Russia on July 9-11.
Del Potro has not played since a fourth-round loss at the Australian Open. He said he will wear a
protective bandage for several more weeks and need months to regain strength and
flexibility
